Join the Tall Poppy slow sewalong

I’ve always wanted to run a sewalong for one of my patterns, but the ones I watch online seem to run at such a pace that I’ve been too scared to try.

However, I need to make another Tall Poppy for a class sample (since the original pictured below doesn’t live with me) so I thought, why not run a sewalong at a speed that suits my making style? I’m thinking months, not weeks…

The Tall Poppy is one of those patterns that really benefits from lots of little tips and tricks that aren’t possible to squeeze into a pattern pdf, so if you’ve had your eye on this one, 2024 might be the time to give it a go.

Slow sewing

From 8 Jan (or some time after that if you’re enjoying your festive season too much) I’ll be starting my version. The sewalong will run until the end of April, so approximately four months. Surely even I can finish a throw top in that time?

I’ll be posting on the blog every few weeks and letting you know when I do that on social media. Given it’s hit and miss what you see in your feed these days, the easiest way to ensure you see every post, is to sign up to my newsletter here.

Pattern discount

Between now and Friday 22 Dec I’m also offering the Tall Poppy pattern at a 30% discount as an incentive to take part. You can find the pattern on sale here.

About the Tall Poppy pattern

The Tall Poppy quilt is a really versatile pattern that works equally well using a scrappy approach, showing off a single fabric range, a selection of solids or even two colours for a striking finish.

The pattern is written for queen, throw and baby sizes with a bonus wallhanging – all with templates included. The techniques used include curved and straight piecing as well as appliqué that can be done using machine or by hand.

I’ll post all about fabric selection in the first week, so don’t panic about having to order anything before then. I’m sure we’ve all got enough to do between now and the holiday season!

This is a slow, no-pressure sewalong after all. I hope you’ll join me!
