Checks and Balances quilt pattern – PDF
Checks and Balances is a modern quilt inspired by woven textiles – from the simplicity of plaid to African strip weavings and the Bauhaus women weavers. The design gives a nod to tradition while keeping a clean, graphic feel.
Originally made entirely from 13 thrifted business shirts, this quilt is perfect for upcycling, but yardage requirements are also included if you prefer quilting cotton. The pattern offers two layout options – a structured version and a more random variation – plus planning sheets so you can create your own design.
