    AHEAD OF THE CURVE

    ‘Ahead of the Curve’ brings together a selection of contemporary quilts that centre the curve both as technical provocation and as a rich site for creative inquiry. This shape, with its fluidity and structural complexity, has long captivated makers seeking to push the boundaries of their craft.

    Exploring risk, innovation, and a deep material engagement, the artists engage with the curve not only as a visual motif but as a way of rethinking process, embracing challenge, and expanding the language of textile art.

    BALANCING ACT (solo show)

    Known for my bold colours, strong geometric designs, and focus on sustainability, these quilts capture the essence of my practice. 

    Each piece represents a design-led balancing act: the challenge of creating the quilt I envision while often working with secondhand materials. I thrive on this tension, producing quilts that are both visually striking and deeply functional.

    Through the works, I aim to spark conversations about the balance between beauty and utility, inviting viewers to consider the values and intentions that drive my process.

    IN CONVERSATION

    Social media gives artists the ability to access ideas, opportunities and peers in a direct and immediate way, leading to new connections and collaborations – a revelation for those who have worked in isolation.

    This show invited a group of Australian artists to engage in a quilt dialog with an international artist they first connected with online. Each pair developed an approach ‘in conversation’ – exchanging materials, exploring new techniques, building on similarities in style, or meeting in person to create together.

  • THE BEFORE TIMES

    The term 'before times' dates back centuries, associated with imagined worlds and apocalyptic stories. Recently, 'the before times' took on new significance in relation to the times before Covid-19.

    For quilt artists, the before times have always been part of the artistic narrative, taking traditional structures and forms and reimagining them in the present day.

    The exhibiting artists used the phrase as a starting point – taking their practices back to basics; celebrating the return of inspiration and materials; exploring types of memory or envisaging a dystopian future.

  • TOWARD ABSTRACTION

    In the same way modern art signalled a move away from realism and the narrative, and toward abstraction, modern quilting represents a move away from traditional approaches – instead favouring bold, graphic design and a willingness to experiment.

    The quilters represented in ‘Toward Abstraction’ showcased some of the most exciting Australian artists working in the modern quilt movement. Frequently exhibiting overseas, the opportunities to do so in Australia are limited – this exhibition is born from this constraint as it is often through limitations or boundaries that our creativity is liberated.

Events and Partnerships

  • MPavilion collaboration

    PROJECT MANAGER, MMQG

    MPavilion is Australia’s premier architecture commission that marked its tenth anniversary with a pavilion by Tadao Ando. As part of the design festival, the Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild was invited to create quilts inspired by the structure.

    I worked directly with MPavilion producer Paul Duboc to manage the project on behalf of the guild – coordinating contributors, managing timelines, and overseeing delivery.

    The callout and submission process, generated nearly 30 entries in ten days. Designs were submitted for judging, and 16 selected for production. The quilts were completed within a three-month timeline and delivered to the pavilion, where they were used for event seating and by visitors throughout the summer season.

    Following the program, the quilts were acquired by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation for ongoing preservation.

  • Australasian Quilt Convention

    SOCIAL MEDIA

    I managed social media coverage for Australasian Quilt Convention 2026, held each April at the Royal Exhibition Building.

    Working to drive attendance during the live event, I captured and shared highlights in real time – including award-winning quilts, international touring exhibitions, classes, daily activities, and the breadth of on-site shopping. Content was designed to reflect the energy of the show while encouraging visitors to attend before the event closed.

    The coverage contributed to a strong sense of energy around the event and positive feedback from stakeholders, with the client noting that the work exceeded expectations.
